Features
The first phase of site preparation involved property acquisition. The SEA acquired properties that made up the 12.3 acre PPG Paints Arena site.
The SEA commissioned an historical assessment of the Fifth Avenue buildings and the Epiphany Church & Rectory to identify historical significance of the structures. A report was filed with the Bureau of Historic Preservation as well as with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
The SEA advertised specs and bids for abatement and demolition of acquired properties. In addition to demolition, the SEA was responsible for relocating utility lines and applying for street vacations. Demolition and site preparation was completed in July of 2008.
